Money can buy happiness...really.

I knew it!

Okay, that's not completely true. So apparently, giving money can bring joy to people's lives. Charity guys, charity!

A Free Education (sort of)

Apparently MIT is opening up its coursework to anyone who's willing to sit down and learn. You can download material from over 1800 courses from MIT - FREE. They do encourage donations, but it's not required.

Rumor is...Facebook Chat is coming out in the next 2 weeks.

It's official, this social network is take over the world. On my spring break in Peru, 3 of the 4 public computers at the airport were being used to Facebook. Yowza.

Junk Food

* Worst Fast Food Meal: McDonald’s Chicken Selects Premium Breast Strips with creamy ranch sauce. Chicken sounds healthy, but not at 830 calories.
* Worst Drink: Jamba Juice Chocolate Moo’d Power Smoothie. With 166 grams of sugar, you could have had eight servings of Ben & Jerry’s.
* Worst Supermarket Meal: Pepperidge Farm Roasted Chicken Pot Pie. It packs 64 grams of fat.
* Worst “Healthy” Burger: Ruby Tuesday Bella Turkey Burger. With 1,145 calories, not a very healthy choice.
* Worst Airport Snack: Cinnabon Classic Cinnamon Roll. Packed with 813 hot gooey calories and 5 grams of trans fats.
* Worst Kids’ Meal: Macaroni Grill Double Macaroni ‘n Cheese. With 62 fat grams, it’s the equivalent of 1.5 full boxes of Kraft Mac ‘n Cheese.
* Worst Salad: On the Border Grande Taco Salad with Taco Beef. A salad with 102 grams of fat and 2,410 mg of sodium.
* Worst Dessert: Chili’s Chocolate Chip Paradise Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream. At 1,600 calories, it’s like eating the caloric equivalent of three Big Macs.

Man do I feel unhealthy... see NY Times article here

Doomed...

"The current financial crisis in the US is likely to be judged in retrospect as the most wrenching since the end of the Second World War. The crisis will leave many casualties."

Giving

I'm a big fan of giving - smart giving that is. This recent insert in the New York Times really peaked my interest - there's great stuff in it about philanthropy, social entrepreneurship, and CSR. Definitely worth it to take a look.

Scandal!!!

I found the above chart pretty entertaining. This Spitzer scandal is pretty crazy. No one would have ever thought that Spitzer would be connected to Kevin Bacon (bottom left). hehe.

The Beginning

I read a lot of blogs - maybe too many. They vary from celebrity gossip (okay, a disproportionate amount), news, technology, fashion, social entrepreneurship, business, and more.

Recently, my friends have encouraged me to start a blog - one sharing my interesting reads with the world.

So this is the beginning. I'm not sure where this will go or if it will have a destination, but you can expect this blog to be simple, possibly funny, and sure to be entertaining.
